Does a Surf School differ from a Surf Camp?
Like a any school Fulcrum Surf School offers daily instruction all the way from the rudiments of surfing in our local summer surf camps up to the most advanced competitive surfing classes with elements of mental preparation from top local surf coaches.
Some of our coaches have been competitive surfers themselves, others have become expert through a lifetime dedicated to the sport of surfing, honing their skills over years with hours and hours in the water surfing. All of our highly trained surfing teachers have CPR and First Aid training and certification and will pass along their passion for surfing excellence.
Like regular school, Fulcrum Surf School is year round, offering a different set of surf classes in the Winter Surf Sessions than in our Summer Surf Sessions.

Local Surf Camps
Great for beginners wanting to learn to surf our Local Surf Camp features surf school sessions weekly from June through August. Fulcrum Surf's approach to surf school begins with the fundamentals: surf safety, ocean awareness, stretching and fitness, paddling in to waves, catching waves, wave riding.

Elite Highschool Surf Team
Our Elite Highschool Surf Team draws its membership from the top local highschool surf programs in San Diego County. Memberships are chosen based surfing ability and performance in surfing competitions. In this highly competitive surf program you must place in our mock competition or be replaced by an up and coming surfer for a spot in San Diego's top competitive surf team - The Elite Highschool Surf Team.
Winter Private Surf Instruction
When it comes to learning to surf nothing can surpass one on one surf instruction. Being in the water with your surf teacher allows him or her to instantly observe, correct and suggest a new technique or an approach to surfing that's informed by their years of experience.
Independent Studies P.E. (surfing for P.E.!)
Surfing for P.E.? Yes! Local San Diego area high schools that offer an Independent Study Physical Education credit will allow you to surf and get credit for P.E. Check with your schools ISPE program and get school credit for surfing!
